About Us
Here at the Baltimore City Resource Parent Association ("BCRPA"), we know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our recent inception we have been determined to make an impact on the world of resource parenting, the children we care for and the agencies we work with. At the core of our efforts we hope to bring Baltimore City Resource Parents support, ideas and passion to the range of activities we’re involved in.
Our Mission:
The Baltimore City Resource Parents Association assists and supports resource parents approved by Baltimore City Department of Social Services. As a result of our collective efforts, resources parents are encouraged, supported, and provided with the skills to provide for the safety, well-being and permanency of children in foster care.
Our Goals:
To be an organization that brings together resource parents approved by Baltimore City Department of Social Services (BCDSS), serving the children in the care and custody of Baltimore City
To promote the safety, wellness, and permanency of children committed to BCDSS
To inform members of current and up-to-date information pertaining to the welfare and care of children
To affect and advocate for necessary changes to improve services for foster children
To develop a better understanding of issues and challenges facing resource families
To develop better communication between foster/adoptive parents and BCDSS
To promote the recognition of vital contributions made by Baltimore City resource parents
To encourage and assist in the recruitment and retention of resource families in Baltimore City
To cooperate and collaborate with other organizations which have similar goals to this association
To provide resources and support to the BCDSS foster/adoptive families
